The M K Lau Collection is one of Asia’s finest private collections of 19th and 20th century Chinese calligraphy and ink paintings, with acquisitions beginning as early as 1977.
Catherine Maudsley, Curator and Senior Advisor for the M K Lau Collection, led a guided viewing of Intimate Encounters: An Exhibition of Handscrolls and Albums from the M K Lau Collection. Catherine introduced some the highlights of the show, emphasising the intimate and participatory nature of the handscroll and album format.
Attendees also visited the exhibition's dedicated Children's Activity Zone. Custom-made rubber stamps, with images from exhibited works depicting Flowers and Birds, Figures and Animals, and Landscapes, were provided along with blank album leaves, encouraging some creative thinking.
