16 January 2024
Co-presented by the Ink Society and M+
In his insightful and inspiring talk, Alan Yeung spoke about the tonal and amorphous qualities of ink that can evoke trauma and healing. Alan presented examples from classical painting—such as the work of Mi Youren, Yan Zhenqing, Xu Wei and Bada Shanren, as well as from contemporary contexts—such as the work of Dai Guangyu, Li Jin and Yang Jiechang. Looking beyond the East Asian tradition, Alan also spoke about the work of Imran Qureshi.
